The ball-milling tank of the traditional planetary ball mill is installed vertically on a level
turntable. During the movement, under the two centrifugal forces caused by the rotation and revolution of the turntable and the tanks, the milling balls and the milling material hit each other and skives products. In this process, compared with the immobile base plane, the gravity of the milling balls and the milling material has little function.
　At present, we promote a kind of new planetary ball mill---the horizontal planetary ball mill, and get the national patent (patent number: ZL01272924.8). It has 4 ball-milling tanks horizontally installed on a vertical turntable. Because the ball milling tanks have no fixed bases while rotating, the milling balls and milling material is affected by the revolution and rotation centrifugal forces and gravity on the vertical surface. When the machine rotates, the variable and different grinding forces of each point in tank cause disorderly movements, which causes the mutual hitting and extrusion between the milling ball and milling material under the high-speed rotating and improves the skiving efficiency and effect. Especially when the ball milling tank is placed horizontally, because of the rotation, the ball milling tank has no fixed underside, avoiding adhesive on the bottom of parts of materials.
